One of the best ways you can enhance the way your house looks and feels is to install wall tiles. In many homes, the wall tiles that used to be most installed were the bathroom tiles, especially the ceramic ones because they were non-porous. Today, more and more people are installing wall tiles elsewhere especially kitchens. There are many types of wall tiles, the most common being marble, ceramic, porcelain and glass. Ceramic tiles are formed from a mixture of clay normally fired at excessively high temperatures. These tiles, usually known as ceramic tiles can be seen on many floors, counter tops, bathrooms, walls and other places. These tiles are generally glazed. This process of glazing keeps the tiles in great shape and makes them non-porous. If you have a wall that looks dull and is need of a designer's touch, then ceramic tiles are ideal.

As we mentioned earlier, ceramic tiles are not the only types of tiles one can select. Porcelain, stone, marble, glass are all tiles can also be used. It is always to good to do your research and find out just which type of tile is suitable for the wall that you want to spice up.

So how do you install wall tiles whether it is in the bathroom or kitchen? Generally, ceramic wall tiles are ideal for almost any situation that you can think of Whether it is counter tops, bathrooms, kitchen and other places, ceramic tiles are great because they are non-porous and create attractive accents on any wall.

If you decide to install the wall tiles yourself, remember to measure the kitchen wall so you will be able to calculate the exact number of tiles that you will require. The next step is to decide the size of tiles to be fitted on your wall. Then decide on the theme

A substance called grout is used to hold ceramic wall tiles together. It is a type of mortar that is added where the tiles join and this helps them stay put. It has to be the right amount. Too little will not hold while too much will cause the tiles to slip and be loosely fitted. The grout hardens once it is dry. It also comes in different colors to compliment whatever color of tiles you choose.

A ceramic tile directly be applied over a dry wall. You can keep them in place using grout and if the wall is likely to be damp, then a special moisture resistant tile should be used.

Be mindful of cracks on the ceramics. If one the tiles get chipped or cracked, then they cannot be repaired anymore. If that is the case, then it is recommended that you obtain replacement tiles. If there are loose tiles or tiles then you might want to check underneath the tiles to see whether the surface is moist.

Ceramic wall tiles are popular because of their non-porous nature and also ease of installation. They are also easy to keep clean.
